ECO World Styria is listed as a finalis for the

RegioStars Award 2012




The styrian network ECO World Styria, which is co-financed by the EU-program Regional Competitivenes Styria 2007- 2013, was nominated by the managing authority for the RegioStars Award 2012.

According to the latest information of the European Commission the project was chosen as a RegioStars 2012 Finalist.

The final decision about the winner of the RegioStars Award 2012 will be announced during the year 2012.

Information-day about funding from the Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG) at the Oststeiermarkhaus

On May 25th 2010 the Regional Management Eaststyria in co operation with the Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG) invited to an information-day about subsidies of the EU-program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" for small and medium sized companies (SME).

The entrepreneurs had the possibility to get informed in an individual counselling by Mrs. Manuela Fussi from the SFG.

The Minister for economic, innovation and finance Christian Buchmann visited the industrial exhibition „Hochstrasse Innovativ“

More than 50 exhibitors had the possibility to present themselves and their products to show the variety of the region “Wechselland”.

This exhibition was organized already 15 times. This year, more than 10.000 visitors had the chance to get informed about new products, innovations and the diversity of the exposed companies.

Minister Buchmann highlighted in his opening speech the engagement and the economic power of SME, and also MEP Hella Ranner and the Representative of the National Council Jochen Pack visited this event.

The Regional Management Eaststyria in cooperation with the “Wirtschaftsplattform Wechselland” had his own information platform there.

More success through knowledge and technology transfer

This was the title of the 4th After Business Meeting at the Castle Gabelhofen on March, 22th 2010.

On behalf of the Regional Management Upper Styria West, Consultants from the the Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG) and the expert Rene Stix (Team ScienceFit) made a presentation about this topic.

They gave a comprehensive overview in different subsidy and consulting possibilities, which can be used by small-and-medium sized enterprises as well as by large companies.

“Cooperation of different kinds can also work EU-wide. The SFG supports styrian companies under the 7th EU Framework Programme to present an application and to realise projects” reported Mr. Grober from the SFG.

In connection with the presentations, Bibiane Puhl from the Regional Management Upper Styria West interviewed the two experts Mr. Egmont Lammer (Sandvik Mining & Construction GmbH) and Mr. Gottfried Steiner (IB-Steiner). The participants got a clear picture of using EU-wide cooperation and how to implement research projects in a successful way.


       

Information desk about the EU-program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" at the open day of the company KWB Boimass Heating Systems

On March, 20th and 21th 2010 more than 2.000 visitors had the possibility to get informed about the EU-program" Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" at the open day of the company KWB Boimass Heating Systems at St. Margarethen an der Raab.

The Regional Management Eaststyria had set up an information desk where the visitors had the chance to get informed personally or to get folders and information material about subsidies.

So it was possible to present the EU-program “Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013” to a broad mass of interested visitors.

Business breakfast of the Regional Management Graz and Graz-Umgebung at Gratkorn Kulturhaus


On March, 18th 2010 the first business breakfast in Gratkorn was organized. This breakfast was hosted by the company “coaches4you”, which has its focus on training of apprentices and apprentice trainers.

The consulting company Nerath MMG organized this meeting on behalf of the Regional Management Graz and Graz-Umgebung to give companies the possibility to network and to intensify contacts. Furthermore the participants had the chance to get informed about the EU-program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013".

After a round of introduction the almost 30 participants had time to network and to get more funding information in a cosy atmosphere.

On February 25th 2010 the biz Kapfenberg organized in cooperation with the Regional Management Upper Styria East a workshop about the possibilities of funding.

“The Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG) offers very efficient funding opportunities for the innovative sector. These support-programs are especially important for small and medium sized companies (SME)” reported Gernot Grober (SFG). Furthermore, Mr. Grober told that the opportunities for innovation subsidies have grown enormous with the EU-program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013".

Mr. Robert Hutter (SFG) agreed and added some examples from the 7th EU Framework Programme.

30 participants had the possibility to get an excellent overview about the current standing of innovation subsidies and had afterwards the possibility to discuss about future innovation projects.

Business breakfast at the community Unterpremstätten on Februar, 4th 2010

The first business breakfast this year took place at the local community of Unterpremstätten at the Porr GmbH and was with 55 participants very well attended.

Branch manager DI Peter Schaller presented the company, which is working successfully since 1869.

Afterwards, the Regional Management Graz and Graz-Umgebung presented the EU funding program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" and in the end the participants had the possibility of networking with others and to exchange experiences in project implementation.

Information event with the topic „Which use has research and development for my company”

Small and medium sized companies (SME) are the economic engine of every region and the place, where jobs and innovation grow.

At an information event on December 2nd 2009, arranged by the Regional Management Liezen and the WKO Ennstal/Salzkammergut, the participants had the possibility to get the “experience” of research, development and innovation within praxis orientated presentations.

Furthermore, funding opportunities for companies within the EU-program "Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" were presented.

Annual meeting between the European Commission and the managing authorities on November 17th 2009 in Graz: successfully absolved

In the framework of the annual meeting of the European Commission and the administrative authorities on November 17th 2009 the STRAT.AT report 2009 was presented.

In addition to an exchange of information on "Simplification and Recovery package" with regard to the economic crisis, the implementation status of the current programming period were discussed.

This meeting was also a good opportunity for Nicholas Martyn, new director in DG REGIO with the responsibility for Austria, to get in personal contact with those persons, who are responsible for the program management.

Afterwards there was the possibility to get informed about realised results in the framework of the Styrian EU-program with an on-the-spot visit.

   

STRAT.AT-Forum on November 16th 2009 in Graz: short- and long-dated reactions on the crises

On November 16th 2009 the STRAT.ATplus-Forum with the topic “Actual economic crises and long-term challenges for regions / Strategic Report 2009” was arranged in Graz. This well visited event was the finish of the main theme “Trends & Challenges and the impact on the Austrian regional policy” and placed the economic crises and important regional policy reactions on European, national and regional level in the focus.

Mr. Rudolf Niessler, Director of the GD REGION and Mr. John Bachtler, Professor at the European Policies Research Centre in Glasgow reported about relevant topics.

Moreover the STRAT.AT-report 2009 was presented. This is the first strategic report of a Member State, which was formally submitted to the European Commission.

Knowledge transfer about „Innovation“ – funding opportunities for companies

On November 10th 2009 a „knowledge transfer“ with the topic „innovation“ – funding opportunities for companies within the EU-program „"Regional Competitiveness Styria 2007-2013" was arranged by the Regional Management Graz and Graz-Umgebung at the Impuls Centre in Grambach.

Mrs. Fussi introduced the comprehensive program from the Styrian Economic Development Agency (SFG) and afterwards Mrs. Micheler reported about subsidiaries, which the Austria Economic Services (AWS) can offer to the styrian companies.

Last but not least Mr. Polak reported about funding possibilities from the austrian research promotion agency (FFG).
Finally the participants had the possibility to discuss with the speakers in a cosy atmosphere.
